The Sermon on the Mount

The Sermon on the Mount is possibly the most twisted, misused and misinterpreted scipture the world has ever known.  Why is that?  Some from ignorance, most for personal gain:

Rom 16:17  Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions and offenses contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them.

Rom 16:18  For they that are such serve not our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly; and by good words and fair speeches deceive the hearts of the simple.

Whenever you hear a person teaching things like what Jesus really meant was … think of the scripture above.  What Jesus really meant was what He said!

For example: what Jesus really meant by love your enemies and do good to those who persecute you and turn the other cheek is that this only applied in Jesus’ time on earth, nowadays we are required to defend ourselves and our nation and Israel…etc.  No! Again think of the scripture above!

The list is endless, but in each case they try to make the Word of our Savior of no effect, for personal gain usually.

The core of this teaching is be separate from the world, be at peace with all men, as best as you are able, do not covet your neighbor’s possessions, and trust and seek God will all your heart, mind, soul and strength.  Trust Him for everything you need, don’t store up wealth for yourselves on earth, store up your treasure in Heaven!

Mat 6:31  Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed?

Mat 6:32  (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things.

Mat 6:33  But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
